NUS Medicine Division of Graduate Studies Academic Proficiency Badges<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Division of Graduate Studies will award Academic Proficiency Badges for the NUSMed MSc and PhD students admitted with effect from the August 2021 intake.<\/p>\n

The Academic Proficiency (AP) badges are digital badges awarded to students who have completed the relevant courses as an indicator of their accomplishment. There are a total of 10 Academic Proficiency badges. A badge is attained after successful completion of elective courses from a variety of baskets with a minimum B+ grade, in addition to passing the core courses. Core courses required for AY2021\/2022 intakes are MDG5108 and MDG5771. For AY2022\/2023 intakes onwards, MDG5108 and NG5001 are required.<\/p>\n

These badges are fully verifiable online through Accredible and can be displayed on resumes. Upon degree conferment, achieved AP badges and accompanying e-certificates will be awarded. Credentials issued on Accredible are available for life.<\/p>\n

The 10 Academic Proficiency Badges are:<\/p>\n

  1. Cancer Science<\/li>\n
  2. Cardiovascular & Metabolic Science<\/li>\n
  3. Neuroscience<\/li>\n
  4. Immunology<\/li>\n
  5. Infectious Diseases<\/li>\n
  6. Biomedical Informatics<\/li>\n
  7. Bioethics<\/li>\n
  8. Pharmaceutical & Drug Development<\/li>\n
  9. Innovation & Entrepreneurship<\/li>\n
  10. Biostatistics, Bioinformatics & Epidemiology<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Below is an illustration of what an Academic Proficiency badge would look like.<\/strong><\/h6>\n

    Students who have successfully completed the elective courses requirements specified below would qualify for the badge.<\/strong><\/h6>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The list of courses for the Academic Proficiency badges are as follows.<\/strong><\/h6>\n

    \"\"<\/p>\n

    For the AP Badges, please note that:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • The maximum number of badges that each student can be awarded will be capped at: MSc \u2013 maximum 1 badge \/ PhD \u2013 maximum 2 badges.<\/li>\n
    • Each course can only be used once.<\/li>\n
    • Within each badge, a student must complete at least 4 Units worth of MDG or CDM courses, unless for BMI AP Badge.<\/li>\n
    • A 2 Units elective course can only be paired with another 2 Units from the same basket.<\/li>\n
    • A minimum grade of B+ is required for all courses that contribute towards a badge.<\/li>\n
    • To be awarded a badge in BBE, a student must pass MDG5108 and have a minimum of 8 Units within the BBE list with at least a \u201cB+” grade for all courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Important Information on Courses<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Cross faculty courses would be allocated to NUS Medicine Phd\/MSc students only if there are vacancies after the respective home faculty students have been allocated.<\/li>\n
