But he received the Mount Elizabeth-Gleneagles Scholarship and that made a world of difference. \u201cA load has been lifted from my parents\u2019 shoulders because they now do not have to worry as much about how I am coping financially in school,\u201d he says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The scholarship, which he calls a \u201cgodsend\u201d, has also helped him to pay for books, a laptop, overseas school trips and accommodation in Tembusu Residential College.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>To help out with the family finances, Fadhli initially wanted to work part time while studying. But his father made him promise not to. \u201cHe told me that even though our family is not so well-off financially, he and my mom will do everything in their power to make sure that everything will go smoothly, and that I should not worry about anything other than my studies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Fadhli says that the Mount Elizabeth-Gleneagles Scholarship was \u201clife-changing\u201d and wants donors to know that their giving will have a profound impact. \u201cThere will always be students like me who are unsure of going the distance in medical school with our financial concerns holding us back,\u201d he says.
