The Programme is designed to encourage the level of participation for medical practitioners who may have difficulties taking extended periods of absence from their work. Each of the 6 Courses is offered as a 1-week block and must be taken consecutively.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #ef7c00;\"><strong>Programme Objective<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>The Graduate Diploma in Occupational Medicine [GDip (Occ Med)], offered by the Division of Graduate Medical Studies (DGMS), National University of Singapore, aims to provide comprehensive skills to doctors in general practice and specialists who wish to have a better understanding of the occupational aspects of their specialty and to be able to implement programmes to protect and promote a healthy workplace in line with the Total Workplace Safety and Health (Total WSH) Initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Emphasis is placed on the importance of offering a total and integrated workplace safety, health and wellbeing programme. The Programme will also include \u201cFitness-to-return-to-work\u201d assessment, management of workers with common chronic diseases, and a project to start a Total WSH programme at a workplace.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #ef7c00;\"><strong>Eligibility Criteria<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>Currently practising physicians with a recognised MBBS degree (or equivalent).<\/li>\n<li>At least 2 years\u2019 post-registration with relevant clinical experience.<\/li>\n<li>English Language Requirement: Applicants whose native language or medium of undergraduate instruction is not English must fulfil a minimum level of English proficiency as listed in the table below. Students conferred with the GDip (Occ Med) may apply to be a Designated Workplace Doctor (DWD) with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), subject to MOM\u2019s criteria. DWD applications will only be applicable to doctors who are practising in Singapore.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #ef7c00;\"><strong>Minimum and Maximum Number of Students<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>The GDip (Occ Med) Programme will commence upon a successful enrolment of the minimum 18 students. The maximum capacity for each intake is 30 students. If there is an over-subscription, applicants will be placed on the waiting list and will be contacted once a vacancy becomes available.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #ef7c00;\"><strong>Funding<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>The Programme is eligible for the following funding scheme:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Claim Skillsfuture credit - At the point of programme registration, please inform the programme administrator that you intend to use your SkillsFuture Credit in part or in full for the qualifying programme fee. You should then submit your claim on the MySkillsFuture Portal within 60 days before the programme start date (date inclusive). A successful application has to fulfil the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>All required fields are duly completed concisely with all supporting documents** successfully uploaded into the system.<\/li>\n<li>Obtain a unique 10-digit application number that is auto-generated by the system (we recommend that you note down the number for future reference).<\/li>\n<li>A non-refundable payment of SGD87.20 supported by a tax invoice (also known as the receipt) which can be downloaded from the system.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Note that a successful application does not imply a confirmed placement or admission into the Programme.<\/p>\n<p>All applications and fees must be submitted and paid by the stipulated closing date. A fresh ink stamp must be used to authenticate the copy or translation of the primary medical qualification.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Applicants who fail to present their original documents for verification without acceptable reasons will not be admitted to the Programme.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants whose original documents have been defaced or misplaced must contact the relevant organisations\/authorities for replacements or letters of verification.<\/p>\n<p>An applicant is only allowed to enrol concurrently in another programme offered by NUS or another University only if granted approval from the Vice Dean of Faculty and the Head of Department. The Degree Programme refers to any programme (including examination-only programmes) which leads to NUS Degree conferment. DGMS is not obliged to provide reasons for unsuccessful applications. Other respective rules\/regulations of DGMS apply.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #ef7c00;\"><strong>Deferment Policy<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>Students who wish to defer will need to write to DGMS, citing the reason for deferment and providing supporting evidence where applicable after acceptance of placement. This request will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The candidature will automatically lapse should an enrolled student fail to complete the Programme within 3 years from the date of matriculation.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #ef7c00;\"><strong>Withdrawal Policy<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>Students must contact the respective Officer-in-Charge (OIC) as soon as they know that they are unable to attend the Programme enrolled. Request to withdraw from the Programme must be made in writing. Emails are acceptable.<\/p>\n<p>Students who notify the Division on their intent to withdraw from the Programme must request for a refund <strong><u>before<\/u><\/strong> the acceptance of placement deadline and provide the supporting evidence where appropriate. Any withdrawal request received <strong><u>after<\/u><\/strong> acceptance of placement deadline will not be entertained.<\/p>\n<p>The Division will generally consider providing refunds to candidates based under the following circumstances:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Illness - Refund request must be accompanied by a medical certificate.<\/li>\n<li>Pregnancy \u2013 Refund request must be accompanied by a medical report.<\/li>\n<li>Involvement in an accident, e.g. victim of crime, accident or disaster \u2013 Refund request must be supported by evidence such as medical report and\/or police report.<\/li>\n<li>Bereavement in the immediate family \u2013 This normally refers to the loss of parent, grandparent, sibling, spouse or child and must be supported by relevant documents such as a death certificate, proof of the relationship, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Supporting evidence must be presented in all cases.<\/p>\n<p>All refunds granted will be subject to 10% administrative charges capped at $500.00.<\/p>\n<p>Requests for refund under the following reasons will not be entertained:<\/p>\n<p>1. Lack of preparedness or readiness for the Programme for which the student has enrolled.<br \/>\n2. Failure to arrange time away from work.<br \/>\n3.
