The Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine [GDip (Geri Med)] Programme is offered by the Division of Graduate Medical Studies (DGMS), NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, in collaboration with the Society for Geriatric Medicine Singapore (SGMS). The Programme is designed to provide primary care physicians with basic skills in caring for the older adults.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is a 1-year part-time Programme consisting of 10 self-directed learning workshops. Each workshop is conducted on a Saturday afternoon (3-hour duration) once a month from August 2025 to May 2026. There is an added component of a Community Hospital Visit for all learners (more information will be provided during orientation).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

There are a total of 10 workshops, and Community Hospital Visit, which will be held from August 2025 to May 2026. The duration of each workshop is 3 hours, conducted in the form of lectures, case studies and\/or discussions.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Community Hospital Visit<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All learners will be required to visit a community hospital as part of the programme. The visit which involves multi-disciplinary collaborations and clerking, is meticulously designed to enrich the learners\u2019 medical education and clinical skills.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Students will be assessed as follows:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Each student must achieve at least 80% attendance for the 10 workshops to be eligible to take the examination.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n

      1. Part A: Theory Assessment (20%)
        \n<\/span><\/b>\u00a0- Including 2 Case write-ups addressing some of the following areas: immobility, instability, incontinence, intellectual decline, chronic medical problems, social & psychological issues, and carer issues. <\/span>The case write-ups are to be submitted: by\u202f<\/span>10 November 2025, 2359hrs (tentative)<\/span><\/b>\u202fand by\u202f<\/span>9 March 2026, 2359hrs (tentative)<\/span><\/b>\u202frespectively. The submitted case write-ups will be graded by 2 independent markers and the final score will be the average of the 2 scores.
        \n<\/span><\/li>\n
      2. Part B: Written Examination (30%)<\/span><\/b>
        \n<\/span>- 100 MCQs with a duration of 120 minutes. Note:<\/span><\/b>\u202fStudent must achieve at least 80% combined attendance for the workshops and must pass Part (A) in order to take the written examination held in June 2026.

      3. Part C: Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) (50%)<\/span><\/b>
        \n<\/span>- 10 stations where each station consists of 11 minutes (3 minutes of reading and 8 minutes of examining). The category of the stations includes the following: Category I (Practical): Aids and appliances; Continence devices; Feeding and medications and wound care Category II (Clinical): Services for the older adults Category III (Clinical): Approach to clinical problem\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Note<\/span><\/b>: Student must achieve at least 80% combined attendance for the workshops, must pass Part (A) and attempted Part (B) in order to take the OSCE held in July 2026.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        Retake of Examination<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        A student who fails either the written or practical examination component may retake the examination at the next available examination upon paying the re-examination fee. All students have\u202f<\/span>two re-examination attempts<\/span>\u202fwithin 3 years of candidature period.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        The Programme <\/span>commences<\/span> in August annually<\/span> and subject to <\/span>minimum<\/span> uptake of <\/span>15 students. The maximum capacity for each intake is 30 students. If there is an oversubscription, applicants <\/span>may <\/span>be placed on the waiting list and will be contacted once a vacancy becomes available.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t
