Deadline extended to <span style=\"color: #ff0000\">15th September 2023<\/span>!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The National University of Singapore invites applications for a <b>Research Assistant\/associate position<\/b> with immediate effect in the Department of <b>Biochemistry<\/b>, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Appointments will be made on contract basis for a duration of 2-2.5 years<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Membrane transporters regulate the transport of nutrients through cell membrane. Our previous work has shown the importance of these transporters for animal physiology<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"> (<b>Nature, 2017, JBC 2020, Nat Comms 2021<\/b>,<b> JCI 2020<\/b>). We are currently interested in studying the roles of membrane transporters in the lysosomes for better understanding of the transport of metabolites from the lysosomes for cellular functions<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">. Interested candidates will have opportunities to enroll in a PhD programme in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Main duties and responsibilities <\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The RA\/RO candidate position will lead a research project in which he or she will work with a senior research fellow to study the physiological impacts of lysosomal transporters to cells\/animals physiology. The applicant is expected to: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\"> <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Perform required experiments and analysis of data.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\"> <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Assist with any other lab members such as assist with postdoc for more complicated experiments when required. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\"> <\/span><span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Work as a strong team player and the ability to work harmoniously with a diverse workforce.<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Assist with research matters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Qualifications <\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The applicant should hold at least a bachelor or Master degree for RO in life sciences\/biomedical research areas from prestigious universities such as NTU, NUS. Preferred experience should include the follows but not limited to: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\"> <\/span>Experiences in biochemical techniques. <b><i><span lang=\"EN-US\"><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\"> <\/span>Proficiency in molecular cloning, protein expression, immunoprecipitation, Western blots.<b><i><span lang=\"EN-US\"><\/span><\/i><\/b><\/li>\n<li>Strong interests in biochemistry.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in working on platelets and blood cells.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with mouse work is a plus but not essential.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Competitive remuneration package with a basic monthly salary of SGD 3500 will be commensurate with the candidate\u2019s qualifications and experience.
