Department of Biochemistry Safety Training<\/h2>\n

Department Safety Induction<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
New staff and student can write an email to Kelvin @ bchtslk@nus.edu.sg<\/a> to register for the Department Safety Induction training program.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Safety induction notes, training quiz link & password will then be sent via email to personnel who write in to register.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
All new staff and students are required to complete the following (1) and (2) prior to applying for card access to building.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

  1. Safety Induction Online Quiz (passed with >80%)<\/li>\n
  2. Fill and complete the Safety and Health Orientation Form<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

    Canvas for ORMC Safety Training Modules<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

    All ORMC Safety Training Courses can be found v<\/span>ia Canvas<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>> login > click tab \u201cCourses\u201d > select \u201cAll Courses\u201d > “Browse All Courses” and type “”Safety”” to select the courses to attend. <\/span><\/span><\/span>Please refer\u00a0<\/span>here<\/span><\/a>\u00a0for all Compulsory Core Modules and Add-on Training.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Stage A: Induction Training (Compulsory)<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

    New staff and student (within\u00a0<\/span>one month<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>upon joining the University)<\/span><\/p>\n

    Stage B: Hazard-specific Training<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

    The second stage of training is dependent on the nature of the research work or teaching experiments that you are doing. This stage is referred to ‘Hazard Specific’ training and is determined from the outcome of your risk assessments. Hazard Specific Training consists of core discipline specific modules and additional supplementary (‘Add-on’) modules.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Stage C: Appointment-based Training<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

    Lastly, depending on the roles and responsibilities you have been assigned, for example Fire Warden\/Coordinator, First Aider, etc you would need to undergo specific training relevant to that role. For Fire Safety Education and refresher courses, please click here<\/a> for the guide to register for the course.<\/span><\/p>\n

    For visitors and personnel without NUS email ID\/NUS account, please write in to Kelvin @ bchtslk@nus.edu.sg<\/a>. An account will be created for you to access Canvas.<\/p>\n

    Hands-On Training<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Biological Spill Response and Chemical Spill Response Practical Training will be conducted yearly, BCHSafety will announce the date of training once confirmed. For Biological & Chemical spill responders, you may want to go through the OSHE online Biological Spill response (OSHCHM05) and Chemical Spill response (OSHBIO05) courses via Canvas.<\/p>\n
