Biodata<\/h3>\n

Lisa\u2019s scientific expertise and the close cooperation with colleagues, clinicians and field workers has allowed her to provide major contribtions in the containment, prevention and treatment of epidemic viral infections including SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) and avian influenza H5N1 (bird flu). Chikungunya virus is a re-emerging arbovirus that causes dengue fever-like symptoms coupled with debilitating chronic joint pain. The virus has now severely swept over several countries in Inaid, South-East Asia, including Singapore and more recently in the Americas, infected more than 2 million people since 2006. Lisa is currently a Principal Investigator, leading a research team at the Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN). Her research focuses on the immune responses of arthrogenic arboviruses that are epidemic or highly endemic in the tropical region with a strong focus on Chikungunya virus. Her team has published in top tier scientific journals and made several key important findings to move the human immunology field forward in controlling the rising number of Chikungunya virus infections. For her contributions, she was voted \u201cMost Inspiring Woman\u201d at the Great Women of Our Time Awards for Science and Technology in 2005, and was confered the Junior Chamber International (JCI) \u201cTen Outstanding Young Persons of the World\u201d Singapore 2013 Scientific and\/or Technological Development Award. For her meritorious research and development efforts on Asia\u2019s infectious diseases, she was conferred the highly prestigious ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nations) \u201cInternational Young Scientist and Technologist Award\u201d in 2008.<\/p>\n
