ActivAID 2014: Crossing Boundaries, Redefining Mindsets
Published: 05 Sep 2014
ActivAID 2014, the 5th edition of an annual conference, was held on the 23 August. The event, aimed at encouraging students to participate in Overseas Community Involvement Projects (OCIPs) and to improve the quality of student-led OCIPs, provided an opportunity for students from various schools and faculties to learn and collaborate from one another.
ActivAID started off as an event for only the medical faculty with speakers involved in overseas health-related projects sharing their experiences with medical students. Since last year, the organising team expanded the scope of the conference to include all university students as they recognised that students from different disciplines can offer a unique perspective and personality during the discussions.
The theme for this year’s ActivAID, ‘Crossing Boundaries, Redefining Mindsets’, goes beyond a medical focus to offer diverse approaches for OCIPs. Eminent speakers were invited to share their stories and pass their knowledge and skills on how to execute a good project. The event concluded after the networking session and dinner, with participants leaving the venue with valuable insights and fresh perspectives.
The organising team would like to take this opportunity to thank all the supporters and sponsors for their contributions in making this event a success.
