Healthcare in Singapore is evolving in light of our rapidly greying population. We now take in more than 450 medical students each year from our three medical schools combined. Medical education continues to be shaped by the drive to deliver quality and value healthcare, with a focus on creating a culture for research and teaching soft skills such as patient respect, empathy and communication. With the changing medical education landscape, the Department of Anaesthesia is moving into more creative ways to educate the next generation as the traditional one-to-one teaching model in the operating theatres is no longer sufficient.
