Assoc Prof Bay Boon Huat was nominated for the University Award – Outstanding Researcher Award 2007 by the Faculty.

Assoc Prof Bay’s Major Research Interests are as follows:

• Cancer biology, in particular the expression, biology and functional significance of novel biomarkers and their potential as predictors of treatment outcome and survival. Tumors that are of special interest include breast and nasopharyngeal cancers.
• Lactobacillus in bladder and colon cancer prevention in collaboration with the Lactic Acid Bacteria Programmatic Research group.
• Photodynamic therapy of nasopharyngeal cancer cells in collaboration with National Cancer Centre.
