Assistant Professor Wong Tien Yin
Dept of Ophthalmology
For the last 5 years, Dr Wong has worked on a new area of research, the
application of computer-imaging assessment of retinal blood vessel damage
to determine whether this damage is associated with risk of heart disease
and stroke. Dr Wong's research has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed
publications in the highest-impact medical journals, such as the Lancet
and JAMA. He has continued this collaboration with scientists
in NUS, the U.S.A and Australia. He is the Principal Investigator or Co-Principal
Investigator of three NIH grants totaling more than US$2 million to fund
this research.
Dr Wong is the youngest Editorial Board Member of the British Journal
of Ophthalmology, and has received numerous awards, including the
Jeans Coombs Awards and the Schitz Award from Johns Hopkins University,
the Ten Outstanding Young Person of the World, the BMRC Young Investigator
Award and Young Researcher Award 2004.
