Division of Urogynaecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery
National University Hospital
Urogynaecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery is a specialised division of Obstetrics and Gynaecology that is dedicated to improving the quality of life of women with urinary and faecal incontinence, bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction, voiding difficulty, pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic floor disorder.
These conditions can affect women throughout their life cycle: from children to the aged. However, urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse are much more common after pregnancy and natural childbirth, menopause and in the elderly.
The female pelvis including the pelvic floor is one of the most complex and amazing parts of the human body as it controls your urination, defaecation (opening of bowels), sexual and reproductive functions. Their disorder can affect your physical, psychological and emotional health and well being.
The Division of Urogynaecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery manages such patients with a holistic combination of counselling, specialised investigations, conservative, medical and surgical treatments. The latter include vaginal, pelvic organ, pelvic floor and incontinence operations, e.g., the minimally invasive tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) and TVT-obturator (TVT-O).
I hope our web-pages will be able to answer most of your queries and we would be delighted to be of help and service to you – to conserve and repair your pelvic floor and to cure or improve your urinary incontinence.
