Career Prospects
Nursing offers a career choice for those who are looking for challenges and diversity. With a large market, nursing can lead wherever one chooses and the opportunities are limited only by the imagination and the passion of the individual.

The NUS Bachelor of Science (Nursing) degree provides a major step for a career in professional nursing. It aims to prepare nurses for a broader role in the delivery of a vast array of health care services. Registered Nurses have widely diverse career opportunities.

Nurse Manager
Nurse Managers manage a ward or department in an institution. They are responsible for creating a conducive working environment and managing the professional and personal development of their staff.
Nurse Clinician
Nurses can aspire to be skilled clinicians in a specialised field of nursing. Nurse Clinicians will be equipped with knowledge and skills in a clinical specialty such as Critical Care, Oncology, Continence Management and Diabetes Education. They provide direct care to patients and perform some specialised procedures in their area of practice.
Nurse Educator
Nurse Educators work in a hospital or an educational institution. In a healthcare institution, they practise as Nurse Educators who plan and implement education and training programmes for nurses. They can also be lecturers who are responsible for the education and training of nursing students in an education institution.
If you are interested in a career as an academic nurse you can enroll in a PhD programme at NUS. In this degree you can conduct supervised research on clinical nursing and related health issues and help develop new nursing knowledge and practice which will add to the evidence base for nursing practice
