Position 1
Executive (Education and Teaching)
  To support the education and teaching function of Initiative for Research and Innovation surgery (I.R.I.S).

Qualification & Requirements
  • Degree.
  • 2 – 5 years of working experience, preferably with experience in organizing events and workshops of scientific or medical nature.
  • Excellent communication and written skills.
  • Good planning and organisation skills.
  • Good people skills.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and support the design and development of tutorials relating to research project design and paper writing etc.
  • Plan and organise tutorials relating to research project design and paper writing etc.
  • Plan and coordinate visits by international experts (e.g. arranging of travel and accommodation, and registration with authorities) to conduct tutorials / courses / programmes.
  • Collaborate with external organisations and partners to jointly organise and promote tutorials / courses / programmes for the Initiative.
  • Work with external organisation and partners on sponsorship or co-funding of tutorials / courses / programmes for the Initiative.
   
Position 2
Research Fellow (Scale A) (Research)
  To support the research functions of Initiative for Research and Innovation in Surgery (I.R.I.S).

Qualification & Requirements

  • MD or PhD in Biomedical Sciences.
  • 5 years of working experience in research.
  • Excellent writing skills especially in scientific writing.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Write and prepare research grants and proposals to secure new grants for the Initiative.
  • Prepare budgets and plan finances for new grants.
  • Engage in clinical trials and basic science research.
   
Position 3
Research Assistant (Research)
  To support the research functions of Initiative for Research and Innovation in Surgery (I.R.I.S).

Qualification & Requirements

  • MD with medical background.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate clinical trials and paper writing.
  • Assist to make revisions to scientific papers (i.e. content or editorial) as requested by publisher.
  • Liaise with publisher on revision to papers and publication of papers.
  • Keep and maintain proper records and database on papers and publications produced by IRIS.
  • Handle all task pertaining to the administration of research.
   
Position 4
Executive (Administration & Support)
  To support the public relations and secretarial functions of Initiative for Research and Innovation in Surgery (I.R.I.S).

Qualification & Requirements

  • Degree in marketing and communications.
  • 3 years of working experience in administrative or public relations position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Organise programs and events to create awareness in research internally as well as general public.
  • Handle all public relationship and communication matters for the Initiative.
  • Handle outreach programs to seek corporate or individual sponsorships
  • Assist in the administration of space allocation for research.
  • Organise meetings and discussions to collaborate with external organisations and partners on intellectual property matters.
  • Provide secretarial support to IRIS’s leadership.

Position 5

Research Assistant
Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery
National University Hospital

  Involve in a device development project for treatment of Diabetes Mellitus and Obesity which includes animal study & also other clinical trials.

Qualification & Requirements
  • B.Sc. (Hons.) in Life Science or equivalent
  • Prefer candidate able to communicate in Mandarin and English

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct animal study & clinical trials, data capture, follow-up on regulatory  EC submissions, coordinate study logistics / finance process, follow up on research meetings.  We need the person to be willing to learn, to interact with patients  and work with a multidisciplinary team.

Position 6

Clinical fellow
Department of Surgery, Division of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery,
National University Hospital

 

The Division of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery, National University Hospital Singapore (NUH) is looking to employ a Clinical Fellow to carry out research work for the Principle Investigator. He/ she will also have the opportunity to receive surgical training during the period of employment. There will be some contact with large animals and cadaveric grafts for the purpose of research. The appointment will last for 1 year (renewable upon approval).

Qualification & Requirements
  • Candidates with a good Medical Degree are encouraged to apply
  • Operating theatre experience (Scrub experience)
  • Previous experience in large animal surgery will be a favorable asset
  • Able to work independently and to multitask
  • Have good organizational and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and statistical softwares like SPSS will be advantageous
 
Position 7

Research Nurse/ Research Assistant
Department of Surgery, Division of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery, National University Hospital

 

The Division of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery, National University Hospital Singapore (NUH) is looking to employ a Research Nurse/ Research Assistant to carry out research as well as administrative duties. He/ she will need to handle medical correspondences, patient appointments, patient counseling, education for clinical trials and assist the Principle Investigator in his research projects. There will be some contact with human grafts and large animals for research purposes. The position is available immediately, and will last for one year (contract renewable).

Qualification & Requirements

  • Candidates with a good Nursing Diploma/ Medical Degree are encouraged to apply
  • Operating theatre experience (Scrub experience)
  • Previous experience in large animal surgery will be a favorable asset

Position 9

Research Engineer
Department of Surgery (M.E.R.C.I)

 

Job Purpose

  • Participate in the development and production of medical devices

Qualification & Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Material, Bioengineering or other relevant disciplines).
  • Min 1 year Engineering technology experience in a manufacturing or R&D environment recommended, preferably within medical devices industry.
  • Demonstrated technical insight and technical familiarity. 
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in technical drawing and CAD software (such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, Unigraphics etc) is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain engineering drawings.
  • Conceptualize and fabricate R&D prototypes and fixtures.
  • Design and perform tests/experiments on prototypes.
  • Identify vendors and raw materials as well as acquire necessary supplies, materials, equipment, and tools for specific projects.
  • Contributes ideas to the development of prototypes, manufacturing processes and fixtures.
  • Supports other project/product development tasks such as, writing and/or verifying specifications, maintaining engineering documentation and equipment, and validating products, equipment and processes.
 
Position 10

Research Technician
Department of Surgery (M.E.R.C.I)

 

Job Purpose

  • Provide engineering support in the development and production of medical devices

Qualification & Requirements

  • Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Material, Bioengineering or other relevant disciplines).

Job Purpose

  • To assist the PI with Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Clinical Trial.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical trials, consent taking for clinical trials, data entry, assist the PI with Ethnic approval submissions, coordinate research study. The person have to be willing to learn, interact with patients and work closely with collaborators.
