Research

Research in the Department of Medicine is anchored across all its 11 Divisions. The Department concentrates on being a focus of translational research both locally in Singapore as well as internationally, and has important collaborations with many of the leading basic research institutes such as Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS), Singapore Institute of Clinical Studies (SICS), and A-STAR across Singapore.

Notable Research Achievements

Over the past year, the Department has been able to compete with reasonable success at obtaining competitive grants to drive its work, most notable being the Translational and Clinical Research Flagship Programme awarded to "The Singapore Gastric Cancer Consortium", led by one of our departmental staff, A/Prof Yeoh Khay Guan.

Research

Research output has rebounded following 2005 with more than 161 papers published in International Journals in 2006. Apart from publications, it is also noteworthy as 10 of our staff members had won awards for their work. Six of our research students had been awarded PhD while one other received her MSc.
