Welcome Message from Chair,University Medicine Cluster
Our vision "Leading the way in clinical care through excellence in research and education" spells what we do as a Cluster. Comprising 8 Divisions: Endocrinology, Family Medicine, General Medicine (including Dermatology & Geriatrics), Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Neurology, Rheumatology, Respiratory & Critical Care Medicine, and 2 Departments (Gastroenterology & Hepatology, and Psychological Medicine), our clinicians are dedicated to providing excellent and evidence-based care of adult patients suffering from the full spectrum of medical diseases. In clinical service, the Cluster encourages initiatives that aim to improve clinical outcomes, patient safety, care coordination, and delivery. We are glad to say that we have made inroads in this aspect as various divisions and departments appointed committees and task forces have successfully implemented a variety of patient-related initiatives with desirable outcomes. In undergraduate teaching, the Education Task Force has streamlined our academic mission of imparting the promising medical students and future generation of doctors with the best of clinical training, learning experience and academic knowledge. Thus far, steady steps have taken place in that direction, with improved teaching scores and more robust evaluation system, and we hope to continue to sustain this momentum. The Cluster believes in and is committed to recruiting and retaining the highest quality staff. As such, it has invested much effort in post-graduate training including those of house officers, medical officers, and registrars. The consistent popularity of the Cluster as the top choice department for medical officers is a testament of the success of our post-graduate training efforts. The Residency Program, and Talent Management & Academic Development Program have been implemented so as to groom new talent for leadership and provide training, exposure and opportunities in clinical translational research. In the pipeline, we will establish a Research Task Force to fulfill our vision of nurturing and sustaining a vibrant research culture within the Cluster. For the coming years, the Cluster hopes to build on its past successes to continue to be a major catalyst for clinical, translational and basic research within the University and hospital. We invite you to explore our website to find out what we can offer in leading the way as an Academic Medical Unit. Please feel free to contact us with questions or comments if you have any. We welcome all opportunities for collaboration. Thank you.
