Applications are open to doctors from developing countries for the Lee Foundation and Tan Sri Dr Runme Shaw Fellowship tenable in Singapore. The Fellowship will cover:

  • a six-month clinical attachment at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, National University Hospital or the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Singapore General Hospital.
  • the training can be in (i) Orthopaedic Surgery or (ii) Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery.
  • temporary medical registration fee
  • medical protection society fee
  • health insurance
  • return economy class airfare
  • living allowance of SGD2,000.00 per month

  • FOUR awards are available each year.


Applicants should:

  1. preferably be below 36 years old
  2. must have successfully completed their Orthopaedic training and examinations
  3. must have a minimum of 2 years Orthopaedic clinical experience after the completion of point 2.
  4. must be fluent in ENGLISH


All interested applicants will need to create an account and submit an online application via Online System for Course Applications (OSCA) by the stipulated closing date, 2359hrs (local time).

  • Please also download and complete this form before attaching it, together with the original supporting documents, in OSCA under “Upload Documents” -> “Any Other Supporting Documents”.
  • All documents uploaded online must be in English. Any document that is not in English must be accompanied by an authenticated English translation.
  • Originals of documents submitted online must be produced on the first meeting with DGMS staff in Singapore. Applicants who fail to present their original documents for verification without acceptable reasons will not be considered for the fellowship.
  • Two testimonials from referees are required. Please ask your referees to send their reports directly to Ms Aurelia Tan of DGMS at the mailing address below. Both reports must reach DGMS’s office before the closing date. Documents submitted in support of the application are not returnable.
